COVID-19 has had disproportionate health and social impacts on people living with HIV and highlights the challenges to providing equitable access to HIV services, such as prevention, testing and treatment and harm reduction services. It also highlights the vital work of community organizations that continue to support and link underserved key populations to these services. These organizations demonstrate leadership by offering safe, inclusive spaces where people can receive the services they need. These spaces are integral to reducing barriers to care. Through this work, community organizations strengthen our collective capacity to raise awareness, reduce stigma and discrimination, and improve the quality of life of people affected by HIV. Speakers will share their insights on community advocacy, leadership, and mobilization, and how to take community-led initiatives further. The purpose of this session is to make salient the importance of supporting communities in the HIV response and to highlight key examples of community leadership.
