Canada's collaborative harm reduction approach focuses on evidence-based community-led initiatives to reduce the impacts of substance use harms on individuals and their communities, including increased vulnerability to HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI). Through the Canadian Drugs and Substances Strategy, the Substance Use and Addictions Program and the Harm Reduction Fund the federal government works with its partners to support programs and projects that advance innovative harm reduction strategies. This session will showcase innovative harm reduction programs and initiatives by community-based organizations, allow participants to reflect on lessons learned and challenges, and consider opportunities moving forward.
