Decentralization of COVID-19 testing to primary health settings is a key approach to expanding early diagnostic, promoting self-isolation, increasing the detection of new cases and providing linkage to adequate care. However, COVID-19 testing is not always accessible, particularly in rural and lower socioeconomic communities. Moreover, long waits for test results are also identified as barriers to testing, which may contribute to seeing testing as futile. These barriers can be coupled with the difficulty of paying to purchase the tests. And highlights the importance of providing easy and accessible COVID-19 testing and clear communication with patients about the need to isolation and quarantine while waiting for test results. Given the complexities in providing optimal COVID-19 testing, this satellite aims to present a proposal of COVID-19 test intervention at primary health care services for people in highly vulnerable socioeconomic neighborhoods in Brazil. The session sponsored by UNITAID will highlight COVID-19 test intervention aspects on primary health care environments; and COVID-19 self-testing acceptability.
