Join a panel of 3 healthcare professionals and 3 people living with HIV from different regions and communities to discuss challenges associated with aging and approaches to minimize those barriers and maximize patient quality of life. Continued innovations in antiretroviral therapy mean that most patients who are diagnosed early and successfully linked to ongoing care can expect long and healthy lifespans. More and more patients are therefore experiencing aging with HIV, with both medical challenges related to co-management of their HIV and concomitant conditions and medications, and nonmedical issues related to stigma, social support, and emotional needs. In addition, specific adversities are experienced by subgroups of older patients such as older women and older patients in resource-limited settings. Supported by an educational grant from ViiV Healthcare.
