The Key Populations Investment Fund (KPIF) was a global, US$100 million investment from PEPFAR (2019–2021) to increase access to and retention in high-quality HIV prevention and treatment services for key populations (KPs) - men who have sex with men, sex workers, transgender individuals, and people who inject drugs. It was created to provide funding to and strengthen the capacity of KP-led and -competent civil society organizations. It was also meant to rectify the persistent shortage of funding for KP communities to address structural and legal barriers to accessing HIV services. This session will bring together KPIF implementing partners, researchers who evaluated KPIF, and community members to discuss the impact of KPIF on service delivery outcomes, local partner capacity, and the people it was intended to serve. Participants will reflect on the value of this unique KP-dedicated investment; discuss its shortcomings; and share lessons learned from KPIF for the global HIV response.
