The satellite session will present highlights and report back from the pre-conference thought leadership symposium on getting to the heart of stigma at sale. The session will discuss, and interrogate the state-of–the-field evidence base in relation to HIV-related stigma. It will serve as a platform to discuss global financial, strategic, and programmatic efforts to contextualize, implement, and scale up effective stigma reduction and mitigation interventions. Results from a global systematic review will be presented alongside nuanced national case studies and examples of good practice, to contextualize the evidence base considering day-to-day realities for different communities in specific socio-cultural and policy contexts. The session will also feature a summary of the discussions from the pre-conference based on current policy guidelines, original global and country-level research, and political documents to guide progress on stigma reduction and mitigation around the world. The session aims to give a comprehensive review of the key messages and discussion highlights from the thought leadership symposium on getting to the heart of stigma, hosted as a pre-conference to AIDS 2022. The session will -celebrate the courageous individuals and interventions that effectively challenge stigma and seek redress for discrimination ; -promote debate and support action to move forward by better documenting processes, evaluating progress, measuring change over time, and learning so that the context specific can also inform a broader view ; -explore the resourcing barriers and opportunities for joining up to reduce stigma at scale, including coordination between financing processes and organisations to be evidence informed and fund strategies that work ; and -contextualize the discussion and debate on the latest evidence about HIV-related stigma in the context of wider conversations about the Global AIDS Strategy and the latest thinking on health and human rights.
